BCAAs what exactly are they and should you be taking them?

What are BCAAs? 

BCAAs are branched chain  ameno acids. They are ameno acids that can't be made by the body. They have to be ingested  by foods or supplements.


What do they do? 

BCAAs benefit the body in many ways they are often called the building blocks of muscle, they can help promote and aid in muscle growth. While BCAAs help in building and growing new muscle they are also very important to maintaining muscle mass. One of the best things about branched chain ameno acids is that they can help maintain muscle mass when cutting or in a calorie deficit diet. They can Protect your muscles against the catabolic effects of dieting. In allot of cases people will see when they go on a diet not only will they lose weight but the will lose muscle mass aswell , causing you to get slimmer and lose muscles definition and tone . , BCAAs help prevent that from happening so you can keep your gains while cutting down and losing fat.

How do they work?

BCAAs increase and promote muscle protein synthesis , this is when the muscles are broken down either through a workout or injury and need to rebuild to repair them self and get stronger , protein synthesis in short helps to rebuild muscle. BCAAs also increase the body's ability for protein synthesis making rebuilding muscle Easyer. They also prevent and slow the rate of protein breakdown in the body. This means not only do BCAAS help you re build muscle it also helps prevent muscle breakdown so you don't have to try and rebuild lost gains when you have less chance of losing them in the first place! (Particularly when dieting)

What exactly are in BCAAs?

valine, leucine, and isoleucine Are the 3 ameno acids in BCAAs , leucine helps aid the bodŷ in healing wounds and protein  synthesis , valine produces energy so your body doesn't have to dip into is glucose stores in your blood helping you workout for longer.
Isoleucine is fuel for your body and helps prevent other ameno acids with diffrent benefits from being burned up. 

Ameno acids can be bought in Eather a powder or tablet form. As a powder you can mix with water , fruit juice or in a protein shake. I personally like to mix my BCAA powder with fruit juice to have during my workout. Tablets can be taken aswell. I also take tablets on days I'm not taking the powdered form it's very popular for people to take a tablet when they wake up and before they go to bed to help aid in recovery.
